Castlemaine Wedding – Mel & Nic

Featured

Funnily enough, even though this blog post is titled Castlemaine Wedding, Mel and Nic actually eloped when they were abroad. However, they didn’t have a photographer at the time. Once home they wanted some photos of the two of them in their wedding finery to have as keepsakes to look back on.

For this, we rented a beautiful, cosy Airbnb property in Castlemaine – Dja Dja Wurrung Country and captured photos of them getting ready before taking some portraits in the little courtyard.

Mel and Nic were absolute troopers as the day started out pretty grey and overcast, we probably only got a couple of minutes of sunshine in between the cloud!

They decided to take their time getting ready together, due to no rush or pressure on the day. Mel wore a dress she had found online and her favourite Aesop fragrance alongside flowers from Art Stems and a very cute powder blue bag by Brie Leon. Nic sported his favourite navy suit.

Mel is also a very talented jeweller and made the rings that you see in the photos!

In between shots and the drizzle outside, we warmed up with cups of tea on the coonara alongside our own little picnic on the rug. This quaint Airbnb was just across the courtyard from the owners whose gorgeous pooch, Halo, you will see pop up now and again in the photos – a very welcome addition!

I’ve actually known Mel and Nic for a couple of years through friends of friends and their affection and appreciation of each other has always been evident. Tens years together and they genuinely can’t keep their hands off each other to this day – what a beautiful thing!

As the afternoon got darker, we shared a glass or two of red before I said my goodbyes and left them to cosy evening in front of the fire!

I couldn’t help thinking what a fantastic idea this would be for an actual intimate elopement. Gifting you the ability to plan out a day exactly to your preferences and schedule with no ties to a particular timeline. I do hope to photograph more days like these in the future!
